| After a long and cold winter anglers are looking forward to the opening of the fishing season. Coming from debate at the AGM anglers are being asked to refrain from wading in the rivers in March so as not to disturb the Salmon and Trout spawning beds. | |

| This tributary of the Castletown river had sectoins which were overgrown and choked. Thanks must go to volunteers from the club who worked over several weeks in the summer to clear and clean the stream. Our local Eastern Regional Fisheries Board supplied spawning gravel and with the kind help of a local riparian land owner the gravel was placed at regular intervals to assist in revitalising the system. | |

National Sampling Program |

| Our local Eastern Regional Fisheries Board members recently carried out fish sampling within the Castletown River Catchment Area. This is very important work to determine the fish density, population and species within the system. Salmon parr, young brown trout, stone loach and eel were recorded in the fast flowing waters. | |

Congratulations to club member Terry Kelly representing Ireland who finished 1st in two of the sessions during the 29th Fips Mouche World Fly Fishing Championships held in Scotland recently. 26 countries competed with Ireland finishing in 10th overall. |

| The club hosted this years competition on the river Fane Sat 23rd. 20 junior anglers competed to qualifier for the Leinster team who will fish the all Ireland TAFI youths on 11th July again to be held on the Fane river. | A DVD will be launched for sale in the new year charting club activities from the 70's to the present day, including footage of the River Fane when it completely dried up in the mid 70's and adult and juvenille competitions from that period. More recent footage showing the opening of the clubhouse, competitions and much more are also included. All monies raised will go towards expenses incured sending our representives to the World Fly Fishing Competitions in 09. | |
