History:
The Association was formally founded in 1926 but its history pre-dates this (check out the photos) and is one of the oldest fishing clubs in Ireland and has enjoyed a long history of angling in the North Louth/Monaghan area and is now recognised as one of the most progressive clubs in the country. Since its foundation the club has been stocking the waters of the region with trout (as can be seen from the pre World War 1 photo) and at one stage had its own hatcheries at Inniskeen on the river Fane and Toberona on the Castletown River.
Annual competitions have been taken place since its inception and have been great sporting and social gatherings for the anglers of the region. Opened in 2001 with grant aid from the Eastern Regional Fisheries Board (now IFI) and the premises provided by Local County Council our Clubhouse situated on the banks of the Castletown River has turned out to be a great asset for meetings and organising our various outings and venues.
The vibrant nature of the club owes it strength to the present and past generations of dedicated members who voluntarily give off their time and experience to preserve and enhance the quality of fishing for present and future generations of anglers.
